In filleting fish, try to start the process by using a fillet knife that is as flexible as
possible and has a narrow blade curving to a sharp point. It should also be razor sharp. More info

How about making floats with peanut packing? you can make you striper baits lift by using
peanut packing foam and some float paint and a tooth pick .
Take a foam peanut paint it with float paint, pierce a hole in the painted packing peanut, use a tooth pick to keep it
from sliding up and down your leader,, pretty cool huh?
Recycled Velcro
You can safely secure hooks and lures to the sides of a fishing rod with the small Velcro straps
commonly found on clothing and personal gear such as children's athletic shoes and duffel bags. Simply cut the straps off
used items about to be discarded and store them in your tackle box for future use.
Cyalume Solution
For added visibility while nightfishing, try these tips: Scotch tape or twist - tie a cyalume
lightstick to the back of your rodtip, where it won't interfere with the line.ALSO GREAT FOR WATCHING THE TIP OF YOUR ROD
AT NIGHT
Tube Stuffing
Next time you rig a tube bait for bass or other species, try stuffing a cotton ball inside
the plastic tube body. Then, saturate the cotton with your favorite type of fish attractant, and Texas rig a hook through
the tube.
The cotton will produce a great scent trail, and I believe the extra weight even adds a bit
of distance to my casts.
Silica Solution
You know those little bags of silica marked "Throw away, do not eat," that are packed in with
a variety of merchandise? Don't eat them, but don't toss 'em, either. They'll help keep moisture at bay if placed in tackle
boxes and soft bags.
Heat Shield
To help prevent the sun's rays from melting your plastic baits, glue a thin sheet of Stryrofoam
to the underside of your tacklebox lids. When the lid's open, the foam doubles as a hook holder.
In The Buff
Your favorite spinning reels will cast farther for longer if they're buffed at least twice
a year.
It's a simple process. Remove the line from the spool, then use a buffing wheel (mounted on
a power drill) along with a non - abrasive buffing compound to gently smoothen the edge of the spool. Be careful not to damage
the anodized coating on aluminum spools, which helps protect against nicks and corrosion.
Besides extending the reel's life, buffing offers an added bonus. While a full spool of line
normally shouldn't touch the lip at the start of the cast, it may toward the end. This is where a buffed edge can help milk
extra distance from every toss.
Hold That Rod
Make a rod holder for bank fishing with a foot-long piece
of 1 1/2-inch PVC pipe, two automotive hose clamps and a section of solid steel rod (length and diameter depend on the type
of shoreline you fish, go thinner in rocky areas and heavier in sandy conditions).
Fasten the metal rod onto the outside of the pipe
with the hose clamps, push it into the bank, and slide the rod butt into the PVC pipe. Cut a small slot on top if rod movement
is a problem. To adjust the length of the rod going into the ground (to accommodate loose sand or hard gravel, for example)
simply loosen the hose clamps with a screwdriver and reposition

EASY POWDER COATING
For many years now , anglers have been custom coloring
their own lead. This is certainly more popular with Large Mouth Bass Anglers then the salt anglers, But if you go through
a lot of of lead it is certainly cheaper to color your own lead then purchase them already pre-painted.
There is a powder paint that you can buy that is better then spray painting , and adds the
high gloss look to your Sinkers, lead jig heads and spinner blades, companys like Stamina Quatily has theses powdered paints. How to use these powder paint .
Heat up the jig or spinner with a candle or alcohol burner.
Place the headed item into the powder paint.
and for a more even glossy look take the already powder painted item and place it in a 350
degree over for 10 minutes ,
this will help with chip protection too , unlike spray paint ..
Getting a handle on your fish tired of trying
to grab your fish while its flipping and jumping around in the water. go out to your local wal-mart or autozone and pick up
a pair of mechanicwear gloves and you can grab those fish easily right out of the water and not have to worry about a thing.
reel care always gently spray off reels after every use. lubricate every month
Rescue Plugs
An old spark plug makes a very effective jig and lure
"knocker." Slide the barrel ring on a snap swivel over the gap end of the plug and squeeze the gap shut with pliers. When
a bait snags, clip the plug onto your line and let it fall to the lure on a straight line. A few sharp pops of the rodtip
will free most baits.
If you accidentally hang a bait
over a tree limb, don't panic; there's a trick to getting it back. As the lure swings
back and forth, wait until it swings toward you, then sharply pull the rod.
This forces the lure backward in an arc that nine times out of 10 will
clear the limb on its way back to you. Conversely, pulling when the bait is swinging away from you pulls the lure in line
with the branch and usually produces a snag.
